My Brother is the big western fan but i do la few good uns. Hannie, Caulder, The Spaghetti westerns, High Plains, and Young Guns to name a few.
I also do like this one, it has a great cast led by two all time favourites, Antony Quinn and Kirk Douglas.
We bought this title many many years ago for a song due to it being a well run print. Although this film clearly has some lines these images, unfortunately, appear to make the colours look really crap when in actual fact there are still plenty of greens and blues left in there along with some yellow, obviously there is colour fade setting in now so we will hold onto it for a little longer.
My screenshots are always taken during projection with an older 4mp digital camera set on auto with no flash so they are only a guide.
The print has good focus with very good sound so all in all it is more than acceptable for the 30 quid we paid for it. I think this is the full feature as the running time is 95 minutes and the film was supplied on 5 x 400ft reels. The film is produced by Hal B Wallis and Directed by John Sturges.
Here is a guide to the plot of this excellent movie,
As the wealthiest and most powerful man in the Wild West town of Gun Hill, cattle rancher Craig Belden (Anthony Quinn) has come to believe he's above the law. When his son, Rick (Earl Holliman), rapes and murders a Native American woman (Ziva Rodann) married to U.S. marshal Matt Morgan (Kirk Douglas), Belden arrogantly declines to allow his son's arrest. The marshal, once a friend of Belden's, takes on the rancher's henchmen and Rick's accomplice (Brian Hutton) to bring the killer to justice.
