The Dark Stairway, Edgar Lustgarten. 800ft B/W

Viewed this old PM films release on b/w stock,
The Dark Stairway, 1953, from the series of short films narrated by Edgar Lustgarten.
This edition was also known as the Greek Street Murders.
The print is very good, very sharp and with excellent sound. We bought this one around 35/40 years ago from Roger Lily here in Plymouth from one of his first shops in Cathcart Avenue, Cattedown.
The print is also in very good condition with hardly a mark worth mentioning.
I think PM films did a few of these, I also thought we had two but Brother corrected me on this.
The Plot,
A blind man, George Benson, witnesses the murder of Harry Carpenter by Joe Lloyd. Benson finds himself accused of the murder. Inspector Jack Harmer finds the murder weapon and discovers Carpenter was murdered because he betrayed Lloyd to the police. Benson manages to identify Lloyd by his ring, voice and aftershave smell.
Extra information,
The Dark Stairway is a 1953 British short film. It was one of a series of shorts made for British cinemas as second features in the 1950s made by Anglo-Amalgamated at the Merton Park Studios as part of the Scotland Yard film series.
They are narrated by crime writer Edgar Lustgarten, and were subsequently broadcast as television episodes.

P. M. Films did some fine releases. I think they did more in black and white than in colour feature releases. They had two of these that I recall.

I still love the smell of film in the morning
