Two great additions

#1 by Tom Photiou , Wed Dec 27, 2017 10:42 pm

Today i received two stonking titles on 16mm,
The brilliant Dances with Wolves, flat version, LPP polyester print,
Witness, agfa colour stock.
Cant wait to view these along with our other pressys.

Will put up reviews and screenshots as we view them depending on reactions, unfortunately there seems to be very few comments on the 16mm reviews.

Looking for Abba the movie Scope trailer

I know it baffles the brains out of me Tom.

You get guys like David Hardy, Robert Crewdson and Many others here over the years, waxing lyrical about 16mm yet hardly anything ever gets posted regarding screenshots and hardly anything regarding projectors and repairs etc etc????
I asked them to join here again as they are so so passionate regarding 16mm,
I got an instant decline!

Weird, really weird.

I've invited posts regarding common 16mm projector repair techniques for certain models including tutorials etc from everyone ,.. what did I get?

No time sorry , time is money, complete silence etc etc etc ,..in other words....
Sweet fanny Adams!

It makes no sense why Super 8mm guys appear the only ones with passion for their hobby and passion to share their hobby from my own outlook,..just for the love of the game.

I have never seen any 16mm collector ever post a video of THEIR prized projector in action yet, not from the forums at any rate.
I wonder frequently why that might be?

From now on then, let's ALL go down the 16mm collectors route, let's see where that gets us all in our twilight hours, shall we? (!!!)

Unfortunately, it seems that the guys mentioned above, don´t want to share their knowledge to newbies, but to keep it as a secret. Hard to understand why. I´m only glad, if I can help someone to solve a problem. I, myself, am in first case a film collector, any common format on film, except 70mm. For me that´s optimal, as certain titles are easily found on one format, but don´t ever exist on another. For example, I recently bought, Disney´s "The Black Cauldron" on 35mm, mint print, original soundtrack and no subtitles. I like 16mm, but there are so many former library prints, out there, so you have to expect stripes, splices etc.

If you are correct Mats, I have never been able to get my head around this entire secret society nonsense.

I come across many "knowledge is power" type of characters in my line of work over the years and this coupled along with "it's on a need to know basis" attitude, really winds my dial quite frankly!!

Another reason why, if you are correct Mats, it will only ever be S8 for me.
At least this attitude hasn't surfaced too often for these machines, in my experiences on this gauge.

I see more shared regarding technical aspects of Super 8mm machines in a month than I have ever seen shared regarding the rest of the machines out there since first joining any forum.
For all 16mm, 9.5mm machines etc, I can count such tutorials on one hand I reckon!

In Sweden 16 mm projectors can be found really cheap, so the need of service isn´t critical. You just buy another one if the first give up. I have never paid more than £40 for a 16 mm projector, often £15. Lots of projectors from schools could even been picked up for free.

Pretty good film too, Mats, The Black Cauldron, perhaps Disney’s best in my opinion, a bit darker

Nice 16mm this. Seen it three times since I bought it a couple of years ago

Was this never done by Derann? Should have been on Super 8

#10. No Vidar it never made release by Derann.

The nearest to it would be "The Sword In The Stone"

Both of those titles are absolute gems btw David if on Tech / LPP.

Tempting Dave, but I have spent to much on films and equipment, the last few months. How much are you asking for these?

#7 Andrew! I doubt any schools used Beaulieu Studio, unfortunately. Eiki, Elmo and B&H slotloaders were common. In the 60´s the Siemens 2000, was the leading school projector. I love them. Manual treading and built like tanks.

Yeah it's a great shame is that Mats. Still Super 8mm film was generally for entertainment purposes and seldom educational ones,

We had some weird Super 8 cassette projectors in school. Looked like a TV set.
