Werbung: Mountain FilmI know that some prices are getting a little on the high side, but this one does seem to be a little expensive.

I am sure Del will be tempted to sell his at these prices! Incredible!!

I had it as a kid and my cousin that lived in Blackpool was featured on it with her boyfriend.

I only found out once I'd bought it.

Ironically, even though in those days Blackpool did have a rollercoaster ride, this film actually features the Big Dipper ride.
Both were made of wood. The actual "Rollercoaster" ride was the older and tamer of the two.

If those are the actual screenshot s from the film, I can't believe how well the colour has stood up!

Mountain films were never the best for print quality or film stock used and I don't remember this one being an exception either.

The original was around 170t long and lasted around 8minutes I'd say.
I have no idea why this one would now be two separate films of 80ft length each????

It also contained some catchy, but rather irritating 70's instrumental music from the half way point as I recall. It was great to begin with but after the 150th time of listening, did begin to grate .😂😂

I can still hear the words "it's not worth it" resonating in my head from one of the rider's featured on the film as they vacate the ride at the finish point. Ha ha ha.

It's 200' ... Is that not Buckingham Film or something? I seem to remember that username. At least he says acceptable and can not be blamed for high price, 18 bids

I am not bidding :-)

it's mounted on a 200ft spool Vidar, but it was nowhere near a full reel of Film as I recall.

I think it's being sold by Rake Enterprises if memory serves me correctly.

Here is how it is described by the seller in detail.

Super 8mm colour with magnetic sound on 200 foot spool - in original packaging for one of the two films on this spool

This seems to be made up of 2 different films with similar subject matter. Both have quite good colour and are fairly sharp, neither has end title and the second sequence has one splice in it. There is white header and academy leader between the two films. Each is about 80 foot. As the second sequence on this reel has main title and is taken from outside the ride and the first sequence has shots from on the ride we think these would be better spliced in reverse order to that which they have been done?

This is not how the film started out in life as two separate 80ft films??

There isn't a cat in hells chance that the winning bidder will pay. Look at the bidding, it has all the hallmarks of time wasters, two bidders pitching off against each other. Mind you if they do pay Andrew is bang on the money, and mine is uncut and also with good colour if memory serves me right

I have bought several films from this seller, and have been happy with all of them. All have been as described so far (again just my opinion, referring to the other active topic here :-) I did see this film and thought it could be fun to own if it was filmed from inside the roller coaster. But I wouldn't have guessed in a million years it would have this development in the auction (and off course I will not bid on it now). Amazing!

Eivind, it is indeed footage from inside the coaster, it's like actually being there. I have a few different roller coaster rides including a couple of copies of the scope stereo one, brilliant to put on the front of scope presentation

That sounds great! Would have loved to own it. I had planned bidding on it if it was anything near the starting price. Let's just say I don't consider bidding on it anymore :-)

I actually tried some hand held filming on 3 enormous roller coaster rides at Busch Gardens.

Has anyone ever tried this?

The finished results looked like the camera was bolted onto a hosepipe just switched on while lying free on a garden lawn! 😂😂😂

It's an absolute nightmare!

From around 200ft of footage, I edited it down to around 50ft of anything even remotely worthwhile.

It must have taken quite some skill and camera bracing to get these films Del has even as good as they are. Not an easy filmmakers challenge by any means.
I think they were originally shot on 16mm to produce these films on S8.

I always remember watching the roller coaster rides on the massive curved screens in the early 80's, it was weird with people swaying about all over the place

no mate, I took some once on the monorail at Blackpool pleasure beach in the 80's but it was nice and slow so picture was steady
