That's a great digest. I just wish they didn't include the football game, since that's easily available as PIGSKIN CAPERS. When I got my copy, the previous owner had edited in additional scenes from that latter digest, but it still fits on a 400 foot reel.
Regarding print quality, the Universal 8 B&W prints from the 30s and 40s classics are nice, sharp, and bright, but they do not exhibit the beautiful theatrical density of the Castle extracts. This is readily apparent when viewing my copy which has a combination of both.
This is because Universal 8 created the edits by splicing together 16mm prints, whereas Castle utilized lower generation nagatives.
With Castle, however, some prints were a bit dark, even when viewed with a 150 watt lamp of the Elmo ST-1200. It was hit and miss, however, since for a particular title, I've seen both bright and somewhat dark copies.
