Hughs blue and yellow filters also help out. The blue is stronger blue than our cyan filters. I am happy to have them all. The greens I bought off someone on the other forum, can't for the life of me remember who

If they are not the same as we have they sound like something I would make good use for to adjust for different films. I would appreciate the offer, Hugh! But I will pay for the gels and stamps what they are worth!

Do gels and filters really make a sizable difference? I've been put off bidding on some films as they're going pink but if there's a workaround I might have to rethink my opinion.
What ones do you use?
Also, inkeeping with the thread, I just won an auction for an Abbott & Costello short called "Oh my Aching Tooth!" which I'm looking forward to

See the pictures of A Man Called Horse I posted. It is a very faded print, but the blues are much better with filters

They do make a difference Tyler, though if the film turns completely red, then there is little you can do. If the film has fair colour then filters will restore it to normality, at least that's how I found it. if you go through the old posts you should find one on the use of filters.
If a print is scarce, it's worth buying, as you don't know when another will turn up, especially in 16mm.
RAMROD ... Okay so I thought I would not buy another feature film on 8mm again except for those couple
on my wants list.
However I could not resist bidding on ebay for the Standard 8mm Sound Feature of RAMROD a western .
Standard 8mm Sound / Silent is my favourite home 8mm format of choice.
Add that to the fact it is a vintage print I could not help myself.
You know what ? I won it for the grand sum of £ 19.99. plus postage.
I was the only bidder.
So thank you Tom I look forward to getting it along with its scratches.
Well at least its not faded.
So never say never again !

David, is that Ramrod, with Joel McCrea?; I liked him, got him in 'Four Faces West'. Needs an airing.
And David, if the scratches bother you too much, you know where to sell it on ;-) Mr. Junkman wants all film

I agree, I have two 16mm with him also. The Boys From Brazil and Caught. James Stewart is one I feel is kinda the same likable character

Hi Vidar, "Spartacus" was made before the Hollywood epic and is a truer rendition of how the man died, his body was never found, he died in battle, It
was an Italian film, and like David's "Oliver Twist", it was a rare hire only feature, from DFS, the version you have is the condensation from Mountain Films a Heritage Release, but a very good film to own.
Yes Robert it does have Joel in it.
Okay Vidar I will keep my local forum junkman in mind should I not be happy.
Vidar I bought a Standard 8mm sound version of SPARTACUS not long ago and it is very well edited
it seems a lot longer than it is. I really like it very much.
Not posted for a bit due to being busy but pleased to state that the postie brought me a couple of Walton Films - Birdmen and Stagecoach ( 400 ft) - not projected yet but will do in the not too distant future and will get some piccys. Must admit my 'little' film collection is coming on nicely .. thank you!
That's what we want to hear David! Well Done you!
"C'Mon Baggy, Get With The Beat"
I've had a mixed bag from Ebay lately. One Abbott & Costello silent film (originally with sound but adapted) that was dirt cheap, came in a great original box and was really good condition but then I also bought a collection of cartoons that used to belong to a travelling cinema. The seller said they were worn (obviously) but from this listing he/she clearly hadn't watched them. The listing gave the wrong names for many of the films the condition ranged tremendously in the cartoons with some being fine and other almost unwatchable and they had been very badly stuck back together after breaks and so these sellotape joins came apart 4 times whilst watching it. It was also listed as being an hour and it wasn't.
Still, it had a good Road Runner cartoon at the end, so not all bad

I love Roadrunner cartoons, Wile coyote and all of his cunning Acme devices! Ha ha ha.
A great find once you do away with the sellotape and do a proper job on these as they deserve.
Even if only one or two are worth keeping, it's well worth salvaging prints that no doubt would otherwise just go for landfill.
Well done Tyler.
