Unusual place for a break.

I have a copy of the musical 'Fiddler on the Roof'; during one of the songs, the reel comes to an end. It's not a break in the film, as the original tail is there without any splice. You then have to load the next spool, watch the countdown, and the song continues. You would think they would have waited until the music had finished.

That IS odd Robert! It doesn't sound like that was thought out too well!

Yes, sometimes I see this too. One I watched not too long ago was cut during a conversation, and one minute into next Reel it fades to black and scene change. Why not wait was my thought

I too have seen some truly awful and abrupt cuts like that in films. You think the editor would wait for a more natural break or pause.

Usually Cue marks, mark the end of a scene.

As a boy watching movies, I knew as soon I saw that grease pen marking flash by, there was going to be a scene change.

That reminds me of the ole 8-track tapes. Very few of them didn't have at least one song cut in two parts.
