Collecting Television Shows

#1 by Tim Duncan , Mon May 21, 2018 2:36 pm

Does anyone else here collect episodes of any television shows on 16? I do. I have episodes of "Hazel" and "The Lucy Show", both comedy series from the 1960's. :-)

I don't collect TV shows as such, but I have one episode of 'The Phil Silvers Show', and the pilot episode of the 1954 series of 'Sherlock Holmes'. They are both incredibly sharp; wish all the features were that good.

I have one episode of The Streets of San Francisco. Great print. But I haven't been actively collecting them. Would have loved to own an episode of MASH, though.

I have some episodes form the Daniel Boone serial. Bought them from Blackhawk in the 70´s, but haven´t screened them yet. Crazy, isn´t it?

That is true! Wasn't sure if cartoons counted. I guess Tom & Jerry mostly was on TV too? I have a beautiful print of Flintstones on 16mm as you know :-) And when I got to think about it, I do have a 400' digest of Batman.

You are even further behind with unwatched prints than me, Mats :-) Good to know there are others.

I remember Bonanza being announced as a forthcoming TV show in the UK in 1959, and apart from missing the odd episode while on holiday, we never missed it, right up until it ceased in the early 70s.

Not collect as such, but know I bought a Gunsmoke episode from Rake last year. Good fun, but doubt I get a complete of anything. Would not mind all Battlestar Galactica on 16mm though, but hopes are low. Was offered one episode but was very expensive

I remember Bonaza in the 60´s. Everybody watched it, as we had just one TV channel in Sweden.

Anything fun? Lots of great TV shows, I liked How the West Was Won a lot as a kid. Every week we gathered to watch the Macahans journey

A few old British shows there Maurice. I watched a few episodes of the Scarlet Pimpernel online. Bonanza is being shown here again in the UK, now that we have more channels available.

Maurice,
I am pleased to hear that Dad's Army is on film. Something I will watch for now as it would be fantastic to add to the collection!
This was broadcast on public TV here in the states many years back which is how I originally was introduced to it! Such great characters, really funny and well done!

I have a few 16mm TV shows. As has been pointed out, non-faded prints are usually too expensive for my film budget too.
I do not have many, but do have the following:
Bewitched
The Flintstones
The Brady Bunch
Bob Newhart Show
Mary Tyler Moore Show
I Dream of Jeannie
Addam's Family

A few are B&W, a few Eastman, several LPP. Trying to stay away from adding any more Eastman as I just want to avoid fading to pink or red if I can!

Replying to some above.

My "Dad's Army" is the very first episode and may have been a one-off try-out or perhaps the pilot show. I never did find out who released it on Standard 8.

Now for my American TV shows on 16mm:-

The Abbott & Costello Show
The Adventures of Ozzie And Harriet
Amos 'n Andy
The Andy Griffith Show
The Beverly Hillbillies
Daniel Boone
Fantasy Island
The Flintstones
The Gale Storm Show
Green Acres
Happy Days Again
Heart Of The City
I Love Lucy
I Married Joan
The Liberace Show
Love American Style
Love That Bob
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
My Little Margie
Star Performance
The Phil Silvers Show
The Phyllis Diller Show
Topper
Trapper John MD

That's all for now, folks!

Great stuff there Mark. As a 16 year old I took a photo of Randall & Hopkirk off the TV when it was 405 lines.
