1st Outdoor Show of 2017

#1 by Michael Lattavo , Sat Jun 17, 2017 8:13 pm

Took place on my deck, as its been raining all week so didn't want to risk putting up the big screen. Tonight was extra special, as my wife joined me - she was tired, but she made it through!

Started with an IB Tech segment Mary Poppins Step in Time, followed by Three Fugitives. Tonight will either be Rocky or Satisfaction - I told my wife I would let her choose if she will join me again!

On another note, why can't I ever get the pictures to appear in the order I upload them? Should I upload one at a time?!?

Love the "Step In Time" sequences from M.P.
The chimney Sweep parade, the song and dance routine, the fireworks, I love it all.
It looks great on LPP so I can only imagine on IB Tech Michael! 😊

Yes Michael, if you're bothered about order, manually input them by inserting and uploading in sequence.
If you're not too bothered about order, just upload the entire folder in one hit and they will arrive here in whatever order it see's fit.

Thanks for posting your screenshots Michael! I love to see when someone does an outdoor show! I'd like to do one someday. :-)

Very nice screenshots! :-) I am afraid it is way too light here in the North to watch anything outside unless you wait until around midnight at this time of the year.

Midnight! And I thought it was tough to wait until 9:30!

Andrew - thanks for the upload tip, I'll try that tomorrow...

Tim - Thanks! You should try one sometime, its pretty neat. The only bad part about doing it on the deck is I have to watch the volume (little kids sleeping inside) - when I do it out by the barn, I can crank it up!

A silly question this may be, but is it a problem with flying insects being drawn toward the bright lamp of the projector? Around here, I'd probably have a machine full of them by the end of the show! :-/

it's a very good point actually Tim and one I'd never really given due consideration to, given I have no room to facilitate a fun outdoor screening session very sadly.

But yes, you'd imagine that summer midges and the likes, would indeed be drawn by the bright light onto the screen and may very well spoil any viewing potentially, on a nice summer's evening. Certainly in this country they may anyhow.

The insects aren't bad, will occasionally have a moth land on the screen for a few seconds. We spray ourselves down, which might keep them away. Oddly enough, they seem to stay away from the projector. Last night a bat swooped down in front of my wife, which was pretty exciting!

LOL Michael! It's probably a good thing you weren't watching "Dracula" when the bat came near your wife! :-)

This picture was taken last night near Oslo, Norway, at one o'clock in the morning. It is still light in the sky, and not totally dark (but dark enough for a film show) ☺️ This country is not made for outdoor shows ☺️

A 14 hour drive further north the sun doesn't go down at all in the middle of the summer :-)
