I don't suppose its at all etiquette to name the title while the deal is still in dispute.

I think it's only fair to seller and buyer that it remains this way until a settlement is made.

Very true, sorry i being nosey
Hope it works out for you though Dell, i would want something back if it has got that many splices in it. That should have been stated by the seller.

Have i told anyone i'm after Die Hard?

will post the outcome next week, then reveal all, film, seller etc. He has sold others, would love to know if they arrived in the same state, I would have thought so with them also being re recorded into Spanish.

Right guys, a conclusion has occurred today, the seller offer me a 50% refund so I accepted it, I do know that I could have escalated the case to ebay today but the offer was fair, time to dig out the old CIR splicer and re do 21 splices.

A BIG BIG thank you to all who participated in this topic and all the very good advice and support that was offered, Del.

Well it's something Del, maybe he'll think twice about his description on other sales so other collectors might not go through the same experience you went through ,Mark

I am actually quite surprised discount came into the conclusion Del, both from ebay negotiations on your behalf and from your own perspective also.

I thought returning the faulty goods would be the only outcome in this case.

I was just likening it to my own latest scenario when it finally arrives.
If the SH 30 fails to power up when plugged in, I would not accept a 50% discount or even an 80% discount by the seller despite the fact I may in theory at least, be able to get it working.

It's simply not sold as described, therefore I wouldn't want it.

If we want sellers of such items to stop being economical with the truth at the very least, the only way to bring this about is to force their hand by making it expensive for THEM themselves to sell us goods other than as described.

I'll be honest, because the guy was overseas and a long long way overseas it was difficult to sort out. There was risks involved with returning the print even though he was adamant I couldn't return it anyway, but at the end of the day I can get on with my life now and put this behind me, I could have gone to ebay and they might not have decided in my favour for whatever reason and to be honest the print is worth what I have now paid so I'm now happy, but it won't happen again, me and buying off ebay are over (unless I know who the seller is)

I understand now Del, and completely agree with you nowadays where ebay is concerned.

Day by day it is now becoming just a junk sale by and large for other peoples trash.

I am now only interested in purchasing from tried and trusted sellers for my films and even then, ones I know I could return without hassle if things weren't as I expected them to be, based on description.

Glad to hear it got sorted out! I buy a lot on eBay, but normally it is only things that cost around 15 GBP. So no really risk involved.

I see that the roller coaster film was sold for 219 GBP. For a while it was back to 15, but then again went to a crazy price. I wonder if the buyer actually pays for this...

Gwyn, after Evan told me he had also had problems with the same seller I decided not to hide his identity any further, he doesn't deserve to sell films of any gauge.

send him a message about Die Hard 2, ask him how many splices it has, see if he replies, it's re recorded into Spanish so will be exactly the same as mine.

DH2 is a film I'd like to get one day to complete the trio. It won't however, be this one!

It should read 24 x 100ft rather than 2x 1200ft.

If you're having to chop a film to record it again, clearly you are attempting to do so either using the wrong type of projector to do the job or wrong method,..or both!!

Or an editor, which is probably nearer the truth of the matter!
