Eiki lamp failure

#1 by David Skillern , Wed Dec 27, 2023 1:12 pm

Hi all - looking for advice I was screening a film on my Eiki 16mm and the lamp gave up the ghost - now I checked it and it didn’t look burnt out so I replaced it and still no light output - the exciter lamp is working and the projector has sound - but surely the lamps can’t be all faulty - any ideas ?

Thank you

Hi David, Have you checked the fuse ?, check lamp with a multimeter set to diode, this is a continuity test and should beep if the lamp is good...

Even the cheap one's have this feature on them now, check the fuse though, as these can look ok but are not, i have had the fuse break at the metal ends and not in the middle, so it looks ok, the older one's are soldered each end, and they rarely get moved, i've had them crud up on the ends too, check it mate .......

I’ll have to get a multimeter as I can’t tell if it’s the fuse - any idea where I can get a replacement fuse for an Eiki 16mm projector ?

Hi David, depends on the size of the fuse, but try your local car accessories shop, they might have the display with screws, bolts , washers etc, in the small packs, and halfords have them too, but always replace with the same rating. Check the fuse though, and the lamp holder can also go bad as they arc out the contacts, if you have new lamp give a waggle when its on, could be your culprit ........
