I'm back onto the forum

After my recent Windows 11 update debacle, it's taken days to get back onto the forum, I'm pleased to be back, and I'd like to thank Greg Parry for all his help.

Did anything happen, since you created a new account? Berts account was also gone, just wondering if something happens that is not of our doings. Hope noone else loses their accounts.

Good to see you back, both Bert and Barry

Vidar,

I had a Windows 11 update, which wiped out a lot of files and logins, and then the "Fun" began, still with Greg's help I got there eventually.

Hi Vidar,

I believe Barry's issue was a password problem. I still don't know what happened to Bert's account.

Vidar Olavesen sais Thank You!

Hello Barry, glad you got it sorted, Microsoft does it yet again, they never seem to make it simple. It wont be long before they rip us all off with a monthly subscription, they tried it some years ago but got a huge backlash, but it'll come.

Biggest spyware company on the planet mate period, the information highway is all controlled by these huge companies that sell on your data, big money mate, but as you say they're plotting as we speak, how can shaft them with out them actually knowing we are, he's not a billionaire by just selling the software................

Yep, a clever guy, his company has most of the world operating with windows, there are free alternatives like mozilla firefox and opera, not to mention one of the best, Linux. but unfortunately, most programmes and software are written to run on windows, especially games, the biggest money spinner.
Open office is a free alternative to Microsoft office but again, everyone seems to use office which costs a fortune.
If you write a document in office, the free version, open office can open it and you can use it on that free software, however, if you write a document using open office, crappy Microsoft wont be able to open it. The computer has great uses, but the huge companies that run most of the software control it and our costs.
