In-flight entertainment on President Eisenhower's private plane...

Hello,

Over the past weekend I visited the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. An amazing place with over 360 full-size aircraft/missiles on display. Far too large to see in one afternoon.
One of the planes I walked through was President Eisenhower's personal plane for presidential trips. It is a Lockheed VC-121E. I was surprised to see this 16mm Victor (RCA?) projector on the plane:

That is something I really wouldn't have expected to see on a presidential plane, but it makes perfect sense for the time period. I'm unfamiliar with that particular machine. I wonder what is on the film they have displayed with it? :-)

I guess in days gone by for heads of state etc having the facilities to watch film on aeroplanes and boats was a given.
Just goes to show where projectors turn up.

Very cool! I wonder if it was used for pleasure or for some sort of briefing.

Eivind,

That is a really good question. There wasn't any museum host around to ask. Of course, I immediately thought of 1950's feature films, but it could well be military or other official business.
