Here's a small video where I was brave enough to plug in my new toy, I'm not going to lie it was a very nervous moment as the machine hasn't run in many years , I have tried to strike the lamp but its sparking and may need some adjustments, also it sounds incredibly loud but my phone makes it sound worse than it is, I haven't over dubbed the sound with a tractor,Mark

Mark,

Well, a bit amazing that she is running pretty well considering the layoff from work she has had...I hope you can get the lamp to strike. Does the xenon bulb show signs of wear--pitting on the nodes etc.?

It all looks ok Greg, maybe the bulb was the reason it was put away, its definitely been unused for many years so it's a start, at least it didn't explode!! Mark

Nice one Mark, been a while since I last saw one of those ,a friend had one but it had been converted to a standard 24volt bulb as he only had a small room with a short throw.
As you say good job the lamp stayed intact, when they go it can be bit hairy especially if you are expecting it to.Hope you get it running ok soonest.

All for the princely sum of £23 , the scope brackets worth that, Mark

If it won't strike. Turn up the knob at least half way to the right. The lower setting is for when the lamp is struck and you need to lessen the light output, say for a short throw and the highlighted areas are too bright. So, strike the lamp at the minimum level it takes to strike successfully, and turn it back so as not to overun the lamp and shorten the life.
