I am looking to top up on bulbs for our eiki machines, no problems at all other than i have spotted the better osram bulbs, A1/259 64653. This item is available as both ELC or HLX. The parts numbers are the same and so is the price. Could someone enlighten () me as to the difference between the two please? Is one better than the other?

The difference is the gas filler.

I've never known there was an HLX ! I thought that an ELC was an ELC ! Of course, I knew there were the two types, one being a xenophot which claimed a brighter light.
I always use the lower lamp setting (where I can) on my 16mm projectors, so light output is never a worry.

cheapest place for Osram xenophot A1/259 in uk is Lightbulbs2u.com. current price is only £5.10 inc vat per lamp.free postage on orders over £25.00. i don't know of anywhere cheaper. always great quick service.

I use the HLX & would recommend them.

I also use the lower setting due to the good output.
I was getting my SLT2 ready for sending off and noticed how the bulb appears to be quite yellow and the mirror now almost a matt finish. I know bulbs arnt meant to be used until they blow but even with this amount of wear the image is still excellent.
