I searched ebay.com to see which "16mm films" (package type only) sold for the highest prices in the past 2-3 months. (I noticed there is some variance in results, based on which search criteria is used, but this will give one a general idea...)

Here are the Top 10:

1. Batman Returns (LPP) = $3,051.53
2. Apocalypse Now (Scope - Low Fade) = $2,806.99
3. Dumbo (IB Tech) = $2,199
4. Jaws (Scope-Fuji) = $1,925
5. Jaws (Scope-Fuji) = $1,899
6. Once Upon A Time in America (LPP) = $1,545
7. 2001- (Low Fade/Scope - Marco print I believe) = $1,475
8. Curse of Frankenstein (Agfa)= $1,302.79
9. Revenge of Frankenstein (IB Tech) = $1302.77
10. Creature from the Black Lagoon = $1,254,50

Needless to say, I did not buy any of these....

Me neither, but I have bought a print with too high price. Empire Strikes was 1200 USD ... But would consider that for a Return of the Jedi on Super 8. I have the SE trilogy on 35mm, but like the pre CGI better

The madness is that we are talking about these figures for film when we can just go and buy the dvd or blu ray of the same, but judging by the above list, we are not alone. The weird and wonderful the mad and insane, that's what collectors are about, and long may it continue. Hobbies can take over your life if your not careful, but I've never been that careful if I'm honest, because I wouldn't pay 500 quid for fishing rod, but someone would, or 3 grand for television but someone would ........ Hobbies or obsessions, observers just "don't get it", but we do.........

For me as I have said before this is my hobby, nothing more nothing less.
If I’m lucky enough to find a film I want and the price is right and I’ve got a few bob to spare then I will go for it.But the price needs to be right.I see on fleebay there is a copy of “Outlaw Jose Wales” but it’s over a grand.Much as I like westerns and Clint Eastwood forget it at this price tag.
Yes nobody understands why anyone wants to buy thousands of feet of old film in cardboard boxes or plastic/metal tins but as Paul says
“We do....”😁😁📽📽

Looking for Reel1 “SERPICO”
