Would anyone like to be quoted in a glossy mag?

#1 by Martin Dew , Sat May 05, 2018 1:17 pm

I'm working on another article about film collecting for an pro cinema industry magazine. Is there any UK-based member here on the forum who has worked - or does work - professionally in film production, post production, telecine, digital mastering or projection, who would be interested in being quoted in a pro film technology magazine about collecting Super 8, 16mm (and possibly 35mm). I'm particularly interested in getting a professional view of the quality and artistic benefits of film as a presentation medium in the home, as compared to digital tech. If you have a screening room at home too, that would be great.

I only need to ask you a couple of questions by e-mail, but I do need answers before end of sunny day today! Sorry for the rush - nature of the business...

Either reply below or send me PM. I will also be posting this request on 8mm Forum.

Are there really no takers on this? You'll get your name in print, and your prior or present occupation mentioned, whatever you agree to.

I really would appreciate the help if anyone can offer a couple of short soundbites. This is good for our hobby...

There are only one or two I know of here Martin who have been in any of the industry's you mention.
It's a nice opportunity for one of those guys if they like the limelight.

Maybe the other forum will give you a wider audience and definitely does have members that fall into the required categories for you.

Why in particular were you seeking somebody "in the business" as it were Martin, to then discuss an article regarding Super 8mm or 16mm film collecting?

I can clearly see some of the reasons you have given for wanting a "professional" prospective, someone from the business to inter-compare the two technologies for home screening, but do you necessarily feel that it would have to be someone from the professional arena to form a well balanced judgement surrounding all of this?
