Lost Film?

On Friday Morning, Talking Pictures TV is showing what they claim is a lost film, starring Britain's top silent star comedian, Walter Forde, before he became a Director. The film is 'Walter wants Work' (1922). Many of his comedies, if not all, were made by a lab in London for the Ensign Film Company, for home use, and edited versions were also produced in 9,5mm, including this title. The BFI holds 2 16mm prints, so I don't know how it was considered to be lost.

Interesting, I never knew that. I've just found that they were also released in Standard 8; probably Mountain as well.

"Walter Wants Work" (1922) was issued on 9.5mm by Pathescope in 1935 with the number: SB/30102. There must be dozens hidden away in attics. I've got two of Walter Forde's comedies on 9.5mm, but not this one.

I've got one on 16mm 'Walter makes a Movie'. I'll try to remember to watch Talking Pictures on Friday morning.
