Real names only once again please!

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:34 pm

Much as I love the Lion King, I see we now have Mouffassa signed newly to our forum here!

Please note Mouffassa, we have a policy here where people sign in using their real actual names only including their surname.

Please amend your log in details asap or alternatively, surrender your details to admin for them to amend.

Thank You.

Who ever this is has read a long and complete post about using real names only, they are taking the piss now !!!!. Vidar if your reading this can I suggest that the ip address be
blocked for good from ever joining the forum again.

Are you sure the same guy tried several times?

I'd hate to block one that is not aware of the rules.

Why not just block them, and it might get a response from them and there real name details, point out that under the same rules that all members are in agreement with
you can only join the forum using correct name details not a bullshit made up name, no one is exempt from this simple rule, we like to know who we are speaking to, we are
not spooks and we don't do cloak and dagger where we can hide behind or in the darkside, its a forum about film if your not happy to conform with this rule, you cannot join
here.

I think ultimately, it needs an application system here, that needs approval by the moderator before membership is granted.
This way if anything is amiss, these people don't go "live" here prior to amendment of any anomalies by the moderator himself.

This should also ensure this same boring topic of conversion, doesn't resurface on an almost daily basis.

Then we can get on with chatting about film and film associated equipment!
Much more interesting!

Only reason it id not like that, is that those who do register properly, have to wait to be able to post. If no admins are here, theyhang waiting.

How many of those Andrew who changed to there correct name contributed to the forum ?, how many who were asked to changed did not conform ? and come back. I don't think the loss would be that great Vidar, we already have those who sit on the fence and contribute nothing at all, I have no time for these people on here or in general. Don't waste your time
with these people Andrew /Vidar, you both already contribute more to the forum, aIong with Hugh a few others i would rather see your time on here spent with more interesting things to talk about like all things film.

No, I agree Vidar, it's unfair to incur any delay time to those who conform and submit their details correctly, but there's always one of the three of us on here at some point during any given day, so even the genuine guys wouldn't be waiting very long for a simple approval seal from one of admin here if all is correct on an application.

Recently, since this ruling has been spelt out here, we are getting far more people applying with an acrynm than we are with real actual names.

Something has to change Vidar, we just spend far too long here discussing this and it resurfaces far too frequently, I feel.

This really is only an admin topic and offers nothing really of interest to any existing or potentially new members here.

Sorry but if you can't play by the rules then you have no reason to be on the site.
Let's have proper names or you are gone.
If someone has to wait a while for an administrator to OK you then it's worth waiting to join.....just saying📽📽📽📽📽

If you feel we may need one or two more administrators to cover any gaps, then I feel that would be an advancement over what is currently happening Vidar.

Paul's right. Hardly anyone who has initially signed in here, has then gone on to amend their details. You can count these examples on one hand.

I feel the majority of these cases come to us because they know they can sniff around here while hiding behind a veil.

This is probably the only forum of its type where you CAN as things stand, gain instant access without a moderators approval.

The above behaviours would stop in an instance doing things the alternative way.

They have actually been lying in the not confirmed list. So I am not sure why they didn't click on the email. I haven't checked that list since I started the forum or at least very early on.

I have asked the one with a name that's in one word, so hopefully we get the correct name there (It's not a nick as such, I felt so wanted to give it a chance ... I know, too soft)
