FILM COLLECTOR magazine - Winter 2023 Issue #34

#1 by Greg Perry , Sat Mar 04, 2023 11:36 pm

I recently recieved the latest issue from Phil and Co.

Some interesting articles and photos including not one, but TWO articles by our friend Barry Attwood. Barry talks about his road to becoming a film dealer, and then he also shares Part 2 of his "Sci-Fi Greats on 8". Good stuff Barry!
Ged Jones contributes a fun piece on the "ABC of Films"
Other articles include a history of Gerry Anderson and his unique contributions to film/TV, a deep look at Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and more.

Here are the pics of the front and the back cover as well.

If only that 600ft edition of the Gerry Anderson Thunderbird's are go movie from 1966 did get a release.
This appeared in one of their catalouges as a "coming soon" release but like a few others, never appeared. It is also frustrating that the original Thunderbirds are never shown on the TV these days, along with Stingray and captain Scarlet and the mysterons they are classic TV.

Tom,

I asked Derek Simmonds once about the "Thunderbirds" film, he was a massive fan of the series, but alas the chance of a release on 8mm was down once again to pre-print material, and they coul not at the time (early 90's,before DVD restorations) find good enough master material to work from, and Derek would not pay out for a new negative to be made for a 600' release, it's a shame but that's how it was at the time!

Greg Perry sais Thank You!

Thanks for the information Barry, that makes perfect sense, and as you said, it is a shame as i think it would have been a huge seller.
