The 39 Steps

While the projector was set up I had a look through and pulled out this film starring Robert Donat as suspected murderer Richard Hanney, I have three feature versions of this film and like each one for different reasons, the black and white gives a nice feel to the film too. 4x400 and although you get the story it can seem a bit jumpy in places editing wise, enjoyable all the same, Mark

A classic Hitchcock movie Mark, we also have this one mounted onto two 800s. Its good seeing John Laurie, (Frazer from Dads Army), in there in a serious role.
As you say the editing is a little choppy in places which, for a 4 x 400 release is always a little concerning as to how they can let this happen with so much film to play with. None the less a great release on our gauge. Great screenshots too.

Yes John Laurie is evil looking in it, he's more scarier than the agents in it, Mark

Had this on 16mm some years back, had quite a few splices.I sold it for some reason and been kicking myself since.
I do like this version compared to the later ones, this one I think is better than the Kenneth Moore 1959 one and the 78 one with Robert Powell. Can’t beat a Hitchcock one.

Love this film....I have 2 copies on super 8....Thunderbird and Niles....one is very sharp but has some lines the other is very clean but a little soft...so I keep both for now.

John Laurie is one of those actors like Geoffrey Lewis, who Clint Eastwood said of Geoffrey, he could act by just using his facial expressions.
