This is a film which use to appear on just about every sales list going.
I have seen many for sale on ebay, (including this one now), but all that i have seen in recent years have been red. Now this one is actually pretty good with the second half being excellent as far as colour is concerned. As always with U8 the image is pretty sharp and the sound excellent. When i first saw this i thought it odd to see Paul Newman using such expletives, but it is quite a funny film for the right audience. I havnt seen the full feature film but i assume the plot isn't difficult to follow, the editing in this edition is pretty good with horrible jumps or sudden moments, so all in all, a pretty good edit.

In the small New England town of Charlestown, the local mill is about to lay off 10,000 workers. The town's minor league hockey team, the Charlestown Chiefs, is doing no better. After years of failure, this will be the team's last season. Exasperated player and coach Reggie Dunlop (Paul Newman) lets the club's recent acquisitions, the Hanson Brothers, play. The brothers' actively violent and thuggish style of play excites the fans. Dunlop retools the team, using violence to draw big crowds.

Ive only ever seen this as a 400ft.

Hi Graham, i believe it was released as one of there 2 x 400 ft releases. Barry may correct me on this please. I have often seen only a single 400ft reel for sale, also the same with the sting and Animal house but i assumed these were all odd reels from the 2 x 400s being sold. I know you could buy these as individual parts so you didn't have to buy both reels which to me would be an odd thing to do.

Yes U8 did 2x400' versions and 400' edits of "Slap Shot", "Smokey and the Bandit", "Battlestar Galactica" and "The Sting" (and perhaps also "National Lampoon's Animal House", not 100% sure on that one though).

I've just had a nice copy of the 2x400' "Slap Shot" come in, most probably on my next lists!

Just looked at it, it's definitley a Poly print (not 100% LPP), the print overall is in excellent shape, colours (esp reel 1) are very good, although reel 2 looks a bit more muted, but that was inherint in this particular double album, reel one was always better for some reason, let me know if interested I'd do it for £35 + post.
