If you attach a Bell & Howell Filmovara Zoom Attachment to the 38mm lens (1.5") you will get a range of 33.25mm - 42.75mm.
The lens has a range of plus and minus 12.5%, which is .875 - 1.125.

thank you maurice, i have tried the filmovara, but being as the 38mm and others are quite dark
lens, the extra glass on the front makes them a little to dark for my liking. best

On my B&H projector the standard 2" lens is F1.4, and the same with a 1". I saw a 38mm lens advertised on Ebay, and it was F1.5 , which I thought strange.
The Owners and Operators Guide for my TQIII model 2592 lists the standard lens as a 2" (51mm) F/1.2.
Accessory lenses listed are:-
1" (25mm) F/1.6
1.5" (38mm) F/1.5
2.5" (64mm) F/1.5
3" (76mm) F/1.6
4" (100mm) F/1.6
For maximum light the standard 2" is obviously to be preferred.

It's strange why they reduced the light output for a longer throw. My 25mm lens, which has a silver barrel, and I use in my 655 is f1.4
There is a B&H lens on Ebay now, 40mm. Seems strange when they made a 38mm lens?
