Elf NT1 Part required VERY ODD

#1 by Tom Photiou , Mon Jul 31, 2017 6:43 pm

Last night while projecting i noticed the machine got a little rattly in the gate again after a few months of fine running.
What i noticed was the side pressure spring had gone. Literally wasn't there, no loose screws or anything, just no spring!!!!
I cannot see where its gone in the machine or path. It definatly was there as some of you will know i serviced this part of the machine not too long ago.
The spring i need to get, (a couple if poss) is shown here, The Side pressure spring

Have i told anyone i'm after Die Hard?

Tom
it's probably snapped and the two parts are hiding somewhere! You could try Phil Sheard for new springs. His website said he bought up a load of Elf spares.

I don't know why I bother on here posting things on here , I have the biggest collection of films and projectors and spares in the uk .but everyone on here always recommends other dealers I would have give you one but best to stick with your approved sellers like phil as recommended by other forum members just hope he does not let you down like he has done regarding comments on here re films promised
in fact phil and paul foster by there elf motor and arm belts of me then sell then to you when you could have bought them from me in the first place
thanks Maurice for recommending me

it really is a suprise to me that more do not use the services of David Guest. he has one of the biggest collection of films and equipment for sale. projectors a plenty and spares for most too. he should be given your support. it is always best to check him out first for any 16mm requirements you may have. i have always found him very fair indeed.

Still wish he had lists, very difficult ordering film and ask, you have this, you have this? Have been happy with most of the films I have gotten from Mr. Guest.

If you don't mind ordering from the States (though I would check with David Guest first and foremost), this gentleman is good to deal with:

to dave aligan projector was fine when I sold it you a couple of months ago but everyone on hear should remember you are buying equipment that has been well used and over 30 years old email me saying the problems you are having and I will see if I can advice you re vidar requests re films I have over 100 scope films to check and over 400 standard prints to check in black and white and colour but don't have the time to check them out as you know each film lasts about 2 hours but what I can do if anyone lives local and wants to screen them for me I will give them 15 at a time to view for me then I can describe films to the full description .

Dave, regardless if the projector was fine a couple of months ago its not now so I presume that you stand by your goods and I would expect them to last more than 8 weeks, would you like me to send this back to you and you refund me the £70.

Dave ,if it's any consolation, I paid over 15 times that amount for a projector once from a dealer, but still then shortly afterwards, found I needed to spend again to completely rid the machine of any faults.

I guess it's just the nature of the beast when it comes to 30 yr plus electronics, that it is only a matter of time before we all will be spending again.

I am sure on this Paul is right, there is enough 16mm expertise here to solve any minor issues you may have regarding any machine, not only this one of yours.

It can hopefully be easily fixed and that was all I ever wanted from acquiring my own machines, just to have them working exactly as they ought to.

I was even looking at a car only last week that wasn't cheap, would be bought from a dealer, and came with only a very limited warranty lasting only 3 months.

I guess that's all we can typically expect for second hand goods and if buying privately of course, we have no come back whatsoever very often.

I have put a new thread "Problem with top sprocket on RM1" and I have put a picture of the offending beast.
