To answer your question you did used to have to need a Cresta GS Interface BUT you needed the sync pulse unit to go between your DVD player and the interface, many years ago Keith Wilton gave me the wiring diagram to make the sync pulse unit, I was fortunate enough to have a friend who was an electronics wizard and he made the unit for me.

Uploaded a circuit recently for Andrew for his Fujascope sh 30, it's based on the Keith Wilton GS interface, one ic and a few components to do this. I have the instructions for this somewhere Del, will try and find them out.

Only the Top Of The Range P1008GS-U "Pedro" Box had Crystal Sync built in to control both, as can be read about below..
