The asignalman is a short film made by the BBC and shown on TV as one of the annual "Ghost story for Christmas" in 1976. It was a story by Charles Dickens and this BBC TV version running for about 40 minutes is, in my opinion, the best of the Christmas ghost stories. Its stars Denholm Elliot and is well acted and very atmospheric. I dont recall seeing this repeated at all any more but i did buy the shinny disc many years ago and i always view it on Christmas Eve. Made in the days when the BBC made decent programmes.
For those who have never seen it, you can view it here and its one i would love to be able to find on 16mm.
