Trailer Reels

#1 by Gwyn Morgan , Mon Oct 18, 2021 2:03 pm

Years ago I made up half a dozen 400 ft trailer reels,I wrote down what I thought was the projecting order on a card for each reel.Today I decided to check/ show them only to find the order had gone to pot and some trailers were missing. They must be somewhere as I don’t sell them.Anyway a few pics,

In no order there’s Alien 3,bBig Boss, some adverts etc. oh well back to looking.

I have a 400’ trailer reel that I made from 60 second t.v. spots that is fun to watch. My only regret is not editing them more tightly together than I did. I left the original leaders and tails on them, so there are long pauses between each. The ‘good’ ones have gotten hard to find, and the crummy ones that are available are overpriced.

Gwyn, i do like a good trailer/ads and promo reel, it looks as though you will have to go through them all and re label, never mind though ehh, some good viewings to look forward to. I wonder if there will be any there you forgot you had?

Viewed a couple more trailers today,King of Kings,Exodus, and Ben Hur,sadly all have turned to some degree but still very watchable with good sound. This was followed by the PG short advert for tea when the monkeys were moving the piano upstairs and get stuck….”You hum it I will play it” bit of fun.
Couple of pics.

The PG tips advert does have good colour and sound and the trailers are all extra long so despite the colour loss will be keeping.

Nice Gwyn,
The Ben Hur trailer is a good one, a lot of action to cover in it and they capture the film very well, not seen the others but look good. The PG tips ads are good too, they get a good reaction when shown, Mark

Ive got back into trailers again now. Ive some to sort through but a good 200 or 400t trailer reel is always a good viewing.certainly action packed. Its still surprises me what turns up with my recent Ghostbusters scope trailer all be it around 30ish feet so possibly the shoter version of the original. Il get round to viewing it soon hopefully.

Gwyn,

Nice pics of the trailers, and it is also fun to see your film room. I can see lots of great posters and what not in the background of the first image.
Hat's off to you on having a fantastic home theater!

Film room pics

First picture is from stairway going up then two and three are from either direction.
Obviously because of the roof, having masking is not possible on the top of the screen but in some ways this makes for altering the picture size.Alternative film showing equipment is on the top of the film poster cabinet with the speakers for this around the room.At the last count their was fifteen speakers around the room for various pieces of equipment.
The projector stand has an 8mm machine on covered in the red cloth in front of the G ,B, U, poster.
