Viva Las Vegas 2x600

#1 by Mark Mander , Mon Feb 01, 2021 9:54 pm

Watched this film earlier today, nice print, 2x600. Sat and tried to repair the optical sound on another ST1200, I recently set up the optical on another successfully, very fiddly and a lot of patience needed but the machine today wasnt having any of it, the best I got was s small murmur on high volume, I knew the magnetic was good and the machine itself is very nice with hardly any use and more importantly scratch free, thought it was a good opportunity to fully test the sound with this Elvis classic, Mark

Mark,

Well, the bonus is to have Ann-Margret in the film too... I know you are a big Elvis fan--do you have all of his movies on film? Or are there still some out there you are needing?

There is currently a 16mm film on Ebay U.S., of Elvis of the Ed Sullivan Show.

Yes a big Elvis fan Greg and it's what got me started in the hobby with my first film being the 400ft Fun in Acapulco (which I still have) , I do have all 33 feature ilms on film on 8 and 16mm but would love to find a decent colour print of Loving You 1957, I have a black and white print which is ok but I'm not keen on black and white of colour films, it's a very hard one to find but I thought that with all of them, especially the 16mm, Mark

Mark,
Is this the dreaded "optical lens" alignment issue, or something different? I do not have an ST-1200 optical projector, just magnetic. The GS-1200 does have optical and works, although I only have an odd reel with optical sound so not really used.

Yes Greg, the dreaded optical lens alignment, I cant get anything out of this machine, the other ST1200 I did is working perfectly optical and magnetic wise which took a while to set up but was well worth it, thought I'd give this one a go but must be another issue, I have 5 opt/mag ST's and two magnetic only, plus 3 parts machines so will have a look and do some further investigation, I have quite a few optical features so like the machines fully working, plus I like doing them, Mark
