This afternoon’s lockdown rainy day film. You either like or hate this one,not seen very often and was a flop on its release in 1973.Obviously I like this one so having not watched it for some years it was time to give it a go.
For those not aware it is the story of of a group of Europeans that escape war torn China in a plane only to crash in the Himalayas. They are rescued and taken to Shang-la where no one grows old.Not satisfied with their experience in Shanghai-la some of the group decide to leave which has its consequences while others stay. This version is a full blown musical with music and lyrics by Bacharach and David.
The cast is Peter Lynch,Liv Ullman,Sally Kellerman,Micheal York,George Kennedy,John Gielgud and Charles Boyer.
There are a number of versions of the film length and content wise since it’s original release, mine is the airline theatrical version running just over two hours on 1 x 2000 and 2 x1600,W/S,with one join throughout. The picture was good as was the sound, pics taken with my phone do not do the film justice.
Shown on my fumeo 9271 vip but not spooled to one reel but one reel at a time.
