I wonder what happened to his private collection of films, reported as being the 3rd largest private collection in the world .

I think all his films and VHS tapes went to some organisation, don't know what they have done with them. I did read that many of his VHS tapes were of programmes considered to be lost.

Looks like we missed this by few years. I guess the odd reels went to auction, the remainder went to kaleidoscope. Yes Robert he recorded almost all the comedy programs that were on tv, including the golden shot, and new face's, plus radio programs. What a list of films that would have been, thing is why are in a trust foundation, when no one can get to see them, what's the point.

Apparently a lot of Bob Monkhouse’s collection is part of a company called Kaleidoscope that operate out of Dudley in the Midlands. They have a tv chanel broadcasting locally according to the web.
Also the BBC hold a lot of his stuff donated by the family.
Whatever the truth it is a pity I guess a lot of his films will never see light of day. Also he was involved in having a lot of his original collection being confiscated / destroyed by FACT following a police raid.Again there is a lot on the web about this and how certain films seem to have disappeared.
In his day I bet he had a really great collection.

I can recommend a book Bob's Full House which has many details of what was in Bob's collection. The book is generally out of publication but can be printed to order.
