THE FAR COUNTRY

#1 by Bill Davis ( deleted ) , Tue Oct 27, 2020 4:10 am

I just finished screening my IB TECH print of THE FAR COUNTRY, released in 1954, stars James Stewart, Ruth Roman & Walter Brennan. Directed by Anthony Mann.

I've had this print for about ten years and the condition is near mint.

Your print looks fantastic! And I love most films with James Stewart, by the way :-)

Most collectors seem to go for the sci-fi and horror films - I've always enjoyed westerns - but mostly the 1940's thru 1960's color westerns and World War 2. Also I've always collected travelogues. With it getting dark here by 6:00PM I'm starting to run a lot more film at night. It's a fun hobby - still looking for some Randolph Scott titles and a couple of Wayne's but I'm getting down to the very hard to find titles now.

My Brother is a big western & war film fan. We do have a number of good ones on both 8 and 16mm. Always on the look out for more, and like you Bill, you cant beat a good John Wayne

I would love to find nice prints of TRUE GRIT and EL DORADO, near impossible to find.

A good print of El Dorado was shown last year at Blackpool.

I envy you guys with Blackpool!!! I won't fly so I would never be able to come. I try and do CINEVENT (Columbus, Ohio) and WNY FILM EXPO (Buffalo, NY) but don't recall EL DORADO ever being screened at either of those events.
