This is one of those fantasy stories you dream of, last Sunday I got a phone call out of the blue from a guy I had bought some 16mm films from 2 years ago, at that time we had talked about a small amount of super 8mm films that he had, some might remember me talking about Viva Las Vegas and Xanadu prints, anyway nothing came of it and I gave up on it, until last Sunday, as mentioned I gets a phone call from this guy saying was I interested in some super 8mm films, I like yes of course, he then goes on to tell me that the films were in shop where the business owner had recently died and the shop had to be emptied by this weekend, so it was a case of having the films or they were going to the tip (a collectors worst nightmare). Anyway I'll get to the gist of the story.
On Friday afternoon I went to pick up the films thinking there would be a handful, how wrong was I, I started to get excited when I went up the stairs and saw the boxes of films and the 1200' reels, the car ended up rammed to the roof, when I got home and unloaded the car I got very very excited, the first big reel I came across was Supergirl Scope, there were reels all over the place so all yesterday I was pairing up reels to complete the features. This is a list of the features and some of the mini features included:
Last Train From Gun Hill Viacom feature
The Sound Of Music 3 x 600' Shortened feature
Showboat feature
That's Carry On feature
Supergirl Scope feature
There's No Business Like Show Business Scope feature
Meet Me In St. Louis feature
That's Dancing feature
Million Dollar Mermaid Red Fox feature
An American In Paris feature
Singin In The rain feature
Carry On Abroad feature
Viva Las Vegas 3 x 400' Scope
Girls Girls Girls Viacom feature
Fun In Acapulco Viacom feature

Paradise Hawaiian Style Viacom feature
Roustabout Viacom feature
GI Blues Viacom feature
Ben Hur 3 x 400'
Wild Geese 3 x 400'
Xanadu 2 x 400'
there are quite a few 800'/600'/400/200' reels and I have no idea whats on them yet.
The great thing as well is that the films must have been kept in cold storage because the colours look to have held up nicely, I hope I have finally got a Wild Geese with good colour. With all the crap going on with the Virus and all the riots, I thought I'd share a bit of a good news story.
P.S. yes I kept 2 metres apart.
