Movie Maker

I came across an interesting letter in the January 1974 issue, in response to some comments made the previous month, about Paramount only issuing shorts in B&W and silent. The letter was from one of the executives of Mountain Films, saying that they have offered a lot of money to be able to buy titles and release them in both B&W and Colour versions with sound. They have been refused. Saying that most of the major companies say that package movies interfere with cinema going.

I didn't go to the cinema so often in the 70s and 80s because there wasn't a lot that appealed to me. Television was the threat to cinema going, not package movies.
