I´ll do my best to visit the Film Fair this year too. I had a great time, last year. The teaser looks good. Looking forward to the DVD ( It´s a pity it´s not reel film ). Keep up the good work Dave and thank you for arranging the event. It means a lot to us collectors.. I hope that a lot of the forum members will meet. Would be great to have a chat, with my forum friends, in real life

I've just tried the link over on film tech David, it worked perfectly fine.

I am pleased you are now satisfied with the exposure levels you are receiving from these posts and the resulting viewing figures.
Doug would probably let you know the actual number of "hits" your advertisement has received over on film tech if you wanted to find out this information after a few days or so.
Just write to him by PM if this is something you'd like to know.

I've already booked for the Blackpool Weekend - but this year The Imperial is the hotel of choice - not the Hilton.

Why is that David?

You'd expect the Hilton to be the very best I'd have thought?

If I am able to go, I love The Moorings. Best breakfast I had in UK and friendly as few.

Hi Andrew,

My wife and I have been to the Hilton 2 years running now and on both occasions have had to have room changes due to poor room conditions. Last November while walking past the Imperial which is a short walk from the Hilton we popped in to see the difference and the quality of rooms and general ambiance of the place won us over. I can still pop to the Hilton to meet up with forum members and attend the Sunday convention. But travelling from South Wales we have decided we want some quality from our Hotel. I have stayed in other Hilton's across the UK - and Blackpool certainly needs to up its game.

That's really surprising to hear given the Hilton's reputation.
We, as you probably know, have a Hilton here in the centre of Manchester and it is our tallest building currently in our city. (Though not for much longer, two more that are currently being built are going to be even taller!)

It is, as you'd expect, the very epitome of a luxury hotel and I'm really surprised to hear that anything else in Blackpool can better it for the standard of its rooms.

After such a long journey David, of course you deserve and should expect for your room to be absolutely perfect as the prices all of these luxury hotels charge, is never ever cheap.

Andrew,

all you have to do is google the reviews of the Hilton in Blackpool - I think you might be surprised !!

Clearly I would be David.

Whenever I've stayed in Blackpool, I've always liked staying at the Village hotel close by the Zoo and a little away from the town centre.
I've always found the rooms and facilities to be spot on for own my needs and the standard of rooms versus the price point for the rooms has always suited me perfectly.

re rooms yes david some rooms are dated and they are slowy being refurbished starting at the top and working down so maybe this year you would could have been lucky. but there are some rooms in the imperial very dated to and draughty squeaky window frames if any one has had similar experiences re rooms let me know and I will question this with the management thanks

So......it looks like Manchester International is the closest airport, and can then catch a train from the airport to Blackpool - is it Blackpool North or South?

Last question is - what time do things start on Friday, and how late do things run on Sunday? Thinking I would fly Thursday night and leave Sunday night or Monday morning.

Renewing my passport next week, so figured I would book this trip before my wife changes her mind!
