Vidar if this helps, I sold a copy of Grease earlier this year on 2 x 800' reels. It was the marketing feature and it WAS full length/uncut (thinner film stock). I now have the Derann scope copy on 7 x 400' reels, but if your's is on 2 x 800' reels it will be full length.

Thank you, I did not feel anything missing, great to have it confirmed as I am not feeling too good and not too much film watching. Got a couple of boxes full to check.

Vidar, you only live once my friend, don't ever let nasty people get you down, you don't ever have to deal with people like this, plus you have too many friends to ever let one a***hole get you down

I'm not disputing anything said here by Del, not by any means, but I find it incredible that one full length feature print of Grease can fit onto what is effectively 4 or 5 maximum, 400 foot reels while another print needs 7 to fit the same film on.

I know thin poly stock makes a difference but I'd have thought the 7x 400ft release would be a poly stock Derann print is it not Del?

Here is my understanding of Grease having checked my marketing booklet.
First of all,
It was available as,
1 x 200ft selected scenes,1 x 400 selected scenes,
3 x 400ft mini feature
Full length Marketing feature , (it doesn't state how many reels, only full feature)
If there was a 4 x 400 feature it may have been an overseas sale only. Marketing did quite a few of the USA sales only.
Derann did the full 7 x 400ft feature in scope which we have
also the 200ft summer nights sequence in scope which also contained the opening titles.

Before i got hold of the Derann scope feature we bought what was advertised as the full marketing feature, this was on 2 x 800ft reels and i was a bit surprised but understood the polyester extra thin stock. The film had good focus, good colour and very good mono sound, but when we viewed it the whole Greased lightning number was missing along with footage before and after, this is when we had no choice but to return it. it was pure luck that i got an e mail from a fellow American collector who informed me that Mr Osborn had a full Derann feature in scope for sale, it was also re-recorded into stereo and came mounted on 2 x 1200ft spools.
The full marketing feature would go onto 2 x 800s but they would be very full spools as this film runs for 110 minutes.

Have i told anyone i'm after Die Hard?

Thanks Tom, that makes things a little clearer but I cannot imagine just how full 110 minutes looks on 2 x 800ft spools.

My Aladdin print is on 2 x 800ft spools and it is practically falling off the top of them on both. I place a Bonum clip over each of them when mounting them to reel holders just to stop the film peeling off the reels.

Aladdin runs for 90 minutes only and is on very very thin stock. I am left truly baffled by a full feature of Grease lasting 110 minutes ever fitting on 2 x 800ft Super 8mm spools ???????

The Warriors is around 50+ minutes and fits fine on an 800'

I need to take a timer on Grease. I believe Greased Lightning was there

I simply cannot see any way that 110 minutes of film could ever possibly fit onto 2 x 800ft spools. It simply isn't possible. 110 minutes of myler stock only comfortably fits onto 2 x 1200 Elmo spools as I have found out on many occasions.

1/ Calamity Jane- Only 101 minutes long, Poly stock, not more than 200ft of spare reel space on each of the reels of an Elmo 1200ft Jewel reel!
2/ Who framed Roger Rabbit - Poly stock- 104 minutes long . Not more than 150 ft of spare reel space on each of the reels of an Elmo 1200ft Jewel reel.
3/ The Magic Box - Poly stock- 118 minutes and completely fills 2x 1200ft Elmo 1200ft Jewel reels with nothing to spare without over spooling!

I could go on,...the list is endless, but the point is, It's impossible to get 110 minutes of Super 8mm film onto 2x 800ft spools no matter how thin the film stock unless it is projected at 18fps which of course is not the case here!!

Something has to be missing here from the full original feature to fit.

As mentioned, the grease marketing feature i bought from adealer years ago was on 2 x 800s and there was a 400ft reel missing from the film.

Hahaha, bless you Andrew, please trust me my Grease was absolutely full length, I watched it numerous times and also have the blu ray, there was nothing missing whatsoever, the two 800' reels were full to bursting though, but the film was very very very thin stock

I have just looked at the Marketing catalogue again and it does not say how many reels the full length feature was, but and this is only my opinion so I could be miles off the target but if it was on acetate stock that was a lot thinner that polyester stock and it would have been laminate stripe but that is only my opinion.

Acetate is the thicker of the two stocks David and all of my own Marketing releases of which I have around 6 or 7 of their cut down features and one full length, were all on Polyester stock, same as most of all the later Derann films.

Del, I don't know about thin stock, it must have been printed on 8mm magnetic reel to reel tape then!
I simply still, cannot see how it's possible after comparing how my 90minute Aladdin print with one 2 minute trailer in front, appears on its 800ft reels.

If you don't keep it clipped taking it to reel hub, it's all over the floor, it's that full.

That still would leave another 18 minutes to find room for across the two reels.
That's around another 400ft worth of film.
Both of these films are on thin Mylar stock.

Well I never!

Note the 4x 600ft reels not 4x 400ft or 2x 800ft.

Are you buying it Vidar?

I think I will now be on his "No Deal" list after asking "for some kind of reassurances or description" regarding a print and how dare I ask for screenshots!
Apparently, telling you it has beautiful colour and is in on low fade stock (No Shit Sherlock!), is all you need ever know before handing over a shit load of hard earned!

I lost another half millisecond of sleep last night worrying over the loss of a deal with it!
