The new look "Wittners" website

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Sat Jan 14, 2017 1:33 pm

Having just returned from a business trip since the first week in January, I noticed last night that Wittners now already have a new look website for 2017 and their business going forward.

here is the link to allow everyone to see for themselves the new layout.

http://www.wittnercinetec.com/

This particular route is what has now replaced the old Beaulieu.de link.

Ironically, there are still quite a few Beaulieu spare parts on offer, for cameras and 708 machines, some are even offered at sale prices like the rear cover etc, but many of the sought after parts are still offered only at full original prices.

Worth a look around though to this new look site, for all those interested.

I'm afraid it is sadly Vidar!
To be fair they actually look superior to an Elmo 1200ft reel in their build quality, but at 149 euros per reel, I am sure the reel will be as expensive if not more in many many cases, as the film you place on it!

Lovely reel, silly money though for what after all, is JUST a reel.

I have two of those reels, but did buy them at 'introduction' price at the time, which was less than half what they charge now...

Anyway they are indeed beautifully made. I was planning on using them as take up reels, but the reels have the annoying habit of sometimes building up static electricity that translates into audible cracking in the projectors audio output.

So I use them as temporary reels for housing edited features.

I have witnessed that very same phenomena many times over Alexander.
Especially when using the LPU and especially from steel reels like the Tony Churcher ones.

Aluminium ones aren't quite as susuptable with this.

I found earthing the reel hub gets around this by using a carbon brush touching onto the brass spindle of the LPU.

Very annoying though otherwise is that rhythmic static discharge noise!
