Nordic Film Collectors Convention

#1 by Eivind Mork , Sun Oct 02, 2016 7:58 pm

Here is a few pictures from the convention in Oslo on Saturday.

I met many great people. I knew many of them before from the Norwegian film collectors Association (like Mats and Vidar from this forum), but I talked to some I hadn't talked to before.
A really great day!

There were not much Super 8. I came 5-10 minutes late. I saw one Super 8. There were a few 16mm films on the tables. But most of the interesting films were auctioned and was 16mm only as far as I remember. There were quite a few good film there like Snow White in Technicolor and Bambi in Technicolor. I bought james Bond - Goldfinger in Technicolor. I will post about this soon :-)

Oh, and I forgot to mention; there were some 35mm too which I forgot since I don't collect that :-) Both on auction and at the tables. And there were a few projectors there and a lot of lobby cards, posters etc,

Nice titles Eivind on great stock there!
Shame about the Super 8mm situation though.

A sign of the times now though sadly.

I had never been to the Nordic convention before, and I expected to see a lot of Super 8. It seems that most of core of the attendees collects only 16mm and 35mm. I was surprised to see no Super 8. Maybe there were some that were sold before I came? I said there was one Super 8, but in fact it was Standard 8, and I bought it :-) There were a few Super 8 projectors and cameras, though.

I posted some pictures of my James Bond in an other thread now.

35mm sells really cheap. I payed appx £18 for Disney´s Dinosaur, full feature. I would also like to find more Super8 on the conventions and club meetings. 16mm and specially 35mm take so much space.

I don't collect 35, but I also get storage space problems :-) I look more for 8 than I did before. Nothing like a good 16mm print, but I can't have it all on 16.It's just not enough space. And if the print is good 8 can be very good too. Like my North by Northwest.

Thank you for sharing the day with us Eivind, for those of us who couldn't be there. :-) But I would have been a bit bummed out by the shortage of standard 8 and super 8 films.
