DO NOT discuss anything that is not film related. No Politics, Religion, Weather, Family,Friends etc etc etc.
If I see any topic I think is not Film Related including Digital or anything else I
will delete the Post with no hesitation so ever.
Hey don't complain about it. Its the Forum YOU WANTED.
I look forward to all your strictly Film Related Posts.

I don't remember ever seeing anything outside of religion and politics and excessive digital talk as being a no no David.
That would just be ridiculous.

Surely there must be some misunderstanding or miscommunication in this?

Besides which it would nigh on impossible to administrate given that most topics have a habit of digression at some point, even ones which start out as totally film related.

Given what's been said already this morning, surely all that is needed to allow things to remain civil at at all times here, is to avoid all totally obvious contentious subject matters. (Namely the ones highlighted to begin with)
Surely that is just common sense.

As said then David, we shall have to see how others view this one then.

But not for too long hopefully, I'm nodding off as it is!

That's one of the reasons we lost Hugh and Robert amongst others.
All you are doing by allowing a digression off topic is opening the door again
for further problems.
So that door should be firmly bolted on that one.
We can still all be civil to one another in the context of a film related topic without
going off on a tangent.
Its like starting a topic on say Oranges and finish off discussing Cars.

I'm not seeing it David but hopefully others will pass on their thoughts with this one.

At the end of the day we come here to discuss film, but just as we saw immediately chat progresses onto wives. I see nothing but innocence and friendly banter in any of that personally but maybe that's just me?

After all its part of how we all get to know one another a little and friendships are then often formed just as in everyday life.

It may be innocence or friendly banter but it is non film related and personally I don't want to know
or read about another's personal life details. That includes my Earwig problem.
They can give that in their membership profile page.
No problem hearing about someone's health problem though.
I am not that cold.

Crickey, this is a tough job then Eivind!

Maybe we should manufacture a catalogue of permissible digressions then just in case someone happens to have a broken leg but is showing a film that evening.

We see where the little friendships that were developed got Hugh and Robert.
They were shat on big time.
No doubt I will be asked to let that go and move on by someone but hey I better
stop here as I am having a non related film discussion here.

No one wants to see either of these guys leave the forum David.
I don't know who you are implying shat on either.
It's just conversation that gets out of hand and leads to ill feeling.
I wished neither had left.

no no chaps, lets keep it cine, (that way i wont get in trouble)
As far as i can work out, if something comes up non cine related, would i be correct in saying administrators can delete/edit a thread? If thats the case thats it.
Hope i'm not being naive?

EXACTLY Tom. You are spot on the nosey there.
If they want to chat about the wife and kids or in my case Earwigs that is what the PM function
is there for.
I am glad you are the only one that spotted what I was covertly alluding to.
Good man.

I think like Michael says this thread is non film related therefore anything non film related should be put in this thread of non related film stuff and no where else.
That way there will be no non related film stuff mixing with the film related stuff so the non related film stuff don't contaminate the film related stuf and we have somewhere to occasionally put non related film stuff.
( there are some people with too much time on there hands)

Things are getting sad on here. I enjoyed most of the chat it seems more natural and does add a little personal touch. On the subject of video I can see films that I would never get to see any other way, saying that not sure if I would want to see some of them ever again in any format.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

If it had gone on friendly, sure. But these non-film related topics went way out of hand. I hope film talk is enough to keep people here, otherwise it will die out
