Interesting Find...1972 16 mm Film Rental Catalog

#1 by Douglas Warren ( deleted ) , Sun May 29, 2016 9:02 pm

I picked this item up recently via eBay:

It's a 16 mm film rental catalog from 1972. The cool thing is seeing what was available for rent at that time. The catalog was only $3.98 including shipping. It should prove to be an interesting reference source for older films.

Are you able (and willing) to scan it? Love browsing old catalogs

Well done Doug, but scanning is surely a task.

Unfortunately I don't currently own a scanner but once I get one picked up,I'll scan some pages for the site Vidar. It's a hefty catalog with close to 200 pages!

I certainly will Vidar,as just thumbing through it the amount of titles available at that time was pretty amazing.

The above photos are from the eBay ad for the catalog itself. It gives you a general idea of the content inside.

Brilliant find there Douglas! At nigh on 200 pages, it must contain many great films that were available back then. It will be interesting to hear of some of the blockbuster titles within the catalogue from back then

Looks like a big job to scan. I did a few of the sales catalogues, which wasn't too bad only 20 or so pages.

Like the posters at the side of the films. A good idea.Just too give you an example of hire costs, Jaws was in the Rank Film Library and cost £75 for one showing.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

That is quite a unique find Doug! I could spend WAY too much time looking at something like this! That was a TERRIFIC deal on it too! I hope that you can post some scans of it one day. I wonder what 'in-series' meant in the rental cost?
