• Thursday Night Theme •
Our Thursday Night Theme concentrates on short films of a particular genre. This time around we’re asking you to bring……movies about movies! This includes cartoons, dramas, comedies, musicals, documentaries, basically any short film that’s about film! Anyone have a print of Tex Avery’s "Hollywood Steps Out”? Running times of 25 minutes or less, please.
• Friday Night/ Friday Matinee •
From your responses I know there’s a lot of excitement about our Friday night screening of Filmmaker Peter Flynn’s “Viva Film!” as an advanced work-in-progress. Film collectors watching a documentary about film collecting? That's perfect! Between the two we’ve now added a presentation by award-winning producer, author and motion picture archivist Bob Furmanek. He has recently finished a stunning restoration of the Abbott and Costello 1952 Jack and the Beanstalk. Bob will talk about working from 35mm Super CineColor elements and the difficulties involved with restoring a CineColor film. We'll then have a screening of this now dazzling looking A&C comedy.
Now is the time to open those film vaults and pick out a title to nominate for the Friday Matinee. If you're coming to CineSea and have a print you'd like to show, please email me with the title and format (Standard 8mm/Super 8mm/9.5mm/16mm/35mm/Flat/Scope/Rope-A-Dope) by 9/16. Just so that we can be totally informed, please indicate if your print was struck from an optical disc source. We will then have an online survey and attendees can pick which title they prefer. The winner will be announced on 9/28. The nominations are limited to one title per collector. Send an email to:
