My new film storage

#1 by Mark Mander , Sun Nov 07, 2021 4:50 pm

Well I'm now getting closer to finally unboxing my films since moving house, my son and I spent today building a walk in film room to house everything, I'm over the moon with the results, after having the ceiling replastered, decorating and new carpet we could finally build this masterpiece (well I think so) it's been a long wait but it's done,, a coat of paint next,Mark

It's also for my vinyl collection, not sure if the units are staying yet but I've somewhere to put everything now, we're building shelving for the machines as you walk in,Mark.

It's filling up already and I've more to go in, going to have to rethink the shelves,it will do for now, Mark.

So I've now had another change on my film cupboard, I've got rid of the white shelves and put new shelves in which so far has given me more room, still a way to go but I'm pleased with the changes, Mark

200 footers now shelved.

I've kept some of the white cubed shelving as the vinyl fits perfectly, here's the Elvis.

These are original early LPs going up to 1977

Boxed sets, coloured vinyl and picture discs.

Elvis,Queen and Beatles and some compilation LPs

Various artists A to Z.

I could fill these shelves with vinyl but keeping it sensible with selected albums.

12 inch singles A to Z ,super 8 features, mini features and 800ft reels, all fit nicely.

16mm titles now going in

Machines next, then put all the titles in order as at the moment I've just shelved things,Mark

Selected a few machines that I'll be using, the rest will have to stay in the spare room for now along with the other films, I don't want to overcrowd things after making it accessible.

That's the Elmo CL, Elf HiD, 2 GS1200s, ST1200 HID and ST1200 opt/mag.

Also my Bauer and Chinon SS1200 ,should be enough!! Mark.

Mark,

This is great, thanks for posting these pics. Some wonderful titles there, a truly-first class collection. Your idea to have the bi-fold doors is something I hadn't thought of but I really like. Probably keeps the Mrs. happy too with the films hidden if using the room for other purposes. Very nice!

Greg
Yes thanks for yours and everyone else's comments, it's still a dining room with what is effectively a hidden room, it keeps it all tidy and out of the way and most importantly I can see everything I have which makes choosing what to watch easier now instead of lifting films out of the way to get to them, it's been a long wait to get to this, I can now have a proper sort out and put things in order, move on the doubles I've promised people and obviously try and buy more films!!! Mark.
