The Towering Inferno. 1 x 800ft colour sound

#1 by Tom Photiou , Wed Oct 31, 2018 10:04 pm

This is a title we havnt viewed since 2012, however, a fellow collector here mentioned this title the other day and i thought ours must be turning colour by now. Time for clean and viewing.
Another great surprise, this one appears to be on low fade stock and has superb colours with not a drop of fade in sight. Those blacks are as black as a badgers bum and the whites are pure white, with everything in between being very vivid. We were very pleased with this tonight. The overall condition of the film print is also very good, the first 400ft part being perfect , part two and three have a few very tiny marks which are of no concern, these have been there from day one. Originally on 3 x 400 reels we have of course joined it onto a very satisfactory 800ft spool, (approx 700/750ft). This is another one of those very well done edits along with Eagles Dare and wild gees to name two.
No need to tell anyone the plot here, just some images to tell the story. This one is definatly a keeper.

Looking for, Joe Kidd / The Outlaw Josey Wales on 16mm. Good prints only.

I'm salivating. How did you get that, Tom? Gosh. I just sold a faded one for £100 and a badly scratched one for £50. Goodness knows what yours is worth!

Looks brilliant Tom, I have a print too and it also looks like yours, gorgeous colour and mint too, I have had numerous copies of this over the years and all have had fade, bar this one.

I think it came off a Derann used lit but i reckon this must be a later re print. I was trying to see if this was one of titles that Derann re printed but i cant find it in any of there catalouges. It certainly surprised both of us because it has been six years since we viewed it. We were both expecting a level of fade but obviously more than pleased that it wasn't.

Vidar, again this is a great example of real film making with no computers or crappy CGI crap in site.
