War of the Worlds 3 x 400ft colour sound

#1 by Tom Photiou , Thu Feb 02, 2017 9:21 pm

This is a film that needs no introduction what so ever. Joined onto 1 x 800ft spool this edit flows perfectly and for once at the end it does have the proper paramount logo before the "the End" title so it makes it more complete. This particular print has held up in colour better than any marketing film we own. It is simply still stunning, this is very important for this title as you know because much of it is set at night so any fade would spoil this movie. to say i am pleased with the colours on here is an understatement, i wasn't expecting this to not have any fade, the last time we viewed this was in 2013.
No need to tell you the story, i will let the screenshots tell you this excellent edit. What they dont show you is how pin sharp this print is. Not a mark any throughout.

Have i told anyone i'm after Die Hard?

The best 3 x 400 ft marketing film in my opinion, beautifully edited , and mine is still in the original box's and its on Agfa stock I believe. A keeper, but they do come up for sale
from time to time .

Very nice Tom! One of the best sci-fi movies of any decade in my opinion.

Well, some of them are clearly much better than others, i will check the film stock later to see what it is, i think,(i could be wrong here), that Marketing used mainly Kodak polyester but as mentioned by Paul he also has this & his is on Agfa which i suspect this one is also due to the way the colours have held up so well but i will check later.

Some of the later prints were on Agfa, this has the look, Kodak tends to look more blue. I have the last film by Steve McQueen on marketing The Hunter and that looks the same as this one does. Definitely one of my favourite sci fi movies along with the day the earth stood still another really great movie, and one missed by Derann sadly.
