Once Upon A Mouse (1981) Derann Official 1x 600ft Release

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Thu Apr 28, 2016 1:30 pm

Here are a few photographs from the front cover of this film taken from the official Disney negatives during the early 90's.
This film, when it is the official Derann release here, should be mounted on one 600ft reel, last around 27 minutes and should not contain any slices within it if it is this version.

After a recent enquiry from a member here, I thought I would post this here to make it clear. The quality of the official release is up there with the very best from the rest of the Derann later releases.

Could they contain a lab splice? I have had some films with them over the years.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

Maybe a lab splice David, but I was referring to an actual break in the Polyester print here with this one as some imported prints of this title are found here with this one. They are originally spooled differently also I believe.

Definitely 600ft spool and if my memory serves me right a very full spool and yes they can have lab splices the quality is very good but was only released in mono sound.

Dave's right there Andrew, it was a DFS release on a 600' spool, Derek did tell collectors that lab splices were unavoidable
and had to be accepted. Anyway, they tend to be very strong, far better than amateur splices.

The first time I had a print with a lab splice was a 200ft Pathe Pic from Powell Films, so that's a while since. Wonder if they used a ultrasonic splicer on polyester stock? I remember one reviewed years ago, it was very expensive too.

2x400ft sounds like a 'white' box special.

If I remember David, wasn't there an American import that was a 2x400', as the DFS was on the regulation 600' spool and better print
I believe.
