Future Generation

This little short from Derann was released on a 200 foot spool and contains around 120ft of film & the promo runs for approx 3 minutes.
Future Generations: Small People was a charity programme for Children in Need, put together by the BBC in 1998 as a sort of sequel to the great success of the previous year's Perfect Day charity single.
The programme was dedicated to the BBC's vast output of children's programmes and featured five-year-old Scott Chisholm, dressed in 1950s-style school uniform, walking round various children's programmes past and present, sometimes interacting with the characters. It was first shown on 1 December 1998, within the Children in Need charity programme.
The promotion was to remind the viewers of what their license fee was paying for.
The actual print of this reel, which also includes a short trailer to the children's film federation movie The Runaway Train with Ronnie Barker, has superb print, colour and sound.
Here is a list of the programms that are briefly and cleverly put together in this reel,
Bill and Ben (with Little Weed) Muffin the Mule Andy Pandy (with Teddy and Looby Lou)
The Woodentops Camberwick Green (Windy Miller and others)
Trumpton (Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb)
Chigley (Bessie the steam engine)
The Magic Roundabout (Florence, Dougal, The Train, Ermintrude, Brian and Zebedee)
Noddy (with Big Ears and Mr Plod), Pingu, Morph
The Herbs (Parsley the Lion and Dill the Dog)
Postman Pat (with Jess),Bagpuss (in archive footage, with the mice)
Willo the Wisp (Mavis the fairy), Dennis the Menace and Gnasher
Spider, Crystal Tipps and Alistair, Mary, Mungo and Midge
Roobarb and Custard, Mr Benn (with the Shopkeeper)
Doctor Who (the TARDIS and the Daleks)
Blue Peter (John Noakes, Valerie Singleton and Lulu the elephant)
Newsround (John Craven), Play School (Derek Griffiths)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Borrowers
The Really Wild Show (Michaela Strachan and a Bengal tiger cub)
Teletubbies, Live and Kicking (Zoë Ball)

All in all one of Deranns best shorts i think.

Lets be brutally honest Tom, I'm not convinced on that roll call is justification for the bloody BBC robbing us for years, "Time For Bed, said Zebedee" and time it was done away with, the reason I didn't buy it at the time, hate the Beeb. Nice pictures though.

As I stated at the time of viewing my Wallace & Gromit print of Grand Day Out, I've now placed The Runaway Railway on an individual trailer reel of its own,.
I simply never thought it looked correct stuck on the end of Small People.
Now I have a W&G trailer after Small People and before GDO.
It runs much better now imho.

Wallace & Gromit "Grand Day Out"

"C'Mon Baggy, Get With The Beat"

Hey Hugh, i agree with you there, its about time the license fee was removed, it's a con. And its also way to PC for my liking,
Andy, I never to seem to get around to removing this trailer either, it try and make and effort this weekend.
