633 Squadron 1200ft Scope

Tonight we got out this superb war time film starring Cliff Robertson & George Chakiris among many other stars. This was a really good edit from Derann and the scope screen is just crammed all the way through with superb flying action and it works perfectly with the rousing soundtrack from Ron Goodwin. The image is as sharp as Grease and Romancing the stone and the colours are deep on LPP or Agfa stock, (not sure which) but there is no fade what so ever. There are a few marks within the original sourced material but this really is nothing as far as we are concerned, The edit is very well done and unless you have seen the full feature its very hard to know where the cuts are. The first reel opens with the old BFCC certificate and the main theme in full blasts out with most of the original titles, its been a few years since we put this one through and we forgot how good this 2 x 600 edition was, now mounted onto an Elmo 1200 foot spool it runs for approx 50 minutes. There is also an appearance of actor Johnny Briggs who you may know as Mike Baldwin from Coronation Street.
As for the movie info, well,(i dont usually like to do this but on this occasion its worth it), try here

I will try and get a few images up later as my batteries decided to pack up on my camera and i didn't have any spares

Gwyn, you will have to pop over for a viewing one evening. Yes Ron Goodwin was a Plymouth boy also known for his themes on The Battle of Britain, The Trap, Where Eagles Dare & Frenzy to mention just a few.

Used to run round the playground after 633 Squadron had been on.

Bought this version as soon as Derann released it. Great film. Also a big fan of Ron Goodwins music too. Pump up the volume. His Miss Marple theme is perfect. 633 Squadron trailer

I still love the smell of film in the morning

Tom...I was lucky to attend a concert programme in May 1989 featuring Ron Goodwin conducting
the Scottish National Orchestra here in Aberdeen.
He opened up with the 633 Squadron title theme.
It was a great night of his film music and those of other film composers and bonus encores
that were not on the Concert Programme.
Ron was a very warm and funny man full of jokes and great with the audience.
I shook his hand thanking him at the end of the concert.
It was not until I was on my way home when I realized I had not asked for his autograph.
Never mind I still have my memories of a brilliant night of film music.
