Thanks for sharing this here David.

Douglas obviously contributed and produced some fine work here then in his lifetime and thankfully lived to a fine old age indeed!

RIP ... A very respectable age. He was surely great and hoefully will be remembered through his work

My favourite film of Doug Slocombe's has got to be "Fearless Vampire Killers", his lensmanship on that film was beautiful, no wonder
that Roman Polanski wanted him, it just oozed style and atmosphere, much like the early Disney films, individual frames from that
film could be mounted and hung on a wall. R.I.P. one of the truly great Cinematographers.

Watched the Air-Sea Rescue film "For Those in Peril" on Friday night. A nice original 16mm print on Kodak stock. Douglas Slocombe did the cinematography on this in 1943. I particularly like the shots of the amphibious Walrus aircraft taking off and circling, and the shots of early morning on the dockside against the light. Housewives scrubbing the doorsteps. Being semi documentary in syle it shows the way things looked then in the dockside streets and also pub interiors.
