DERANNS STANDARD 8MM FEATURE

I just wanted to show how nice the contrast on the std 8mm print of "REVENGE OF THE VAMPIRE" ( MASK OF THE DEMON ) is, this
seldom turns up now unfortunately, the super 8 cut is seen more often. There is a French release of this film which is very good on
super 8, and has the added scenes excised from some prints.

Looking good ... I never seen the film, is it worth searching for perhaps? What would one expect to pay? 5x400'?

Hi Vidar, the French copy is on sale now in Paris for 250 Euros, a 5x400, but French soundtrack. The Derann 4x400 last time I seen it on ebay went for about £70.00. I really love the film, Bab's Steele has never looked lovelier, it isn't everyone's taste, but for a classic Italian
horror, it paved the way for many to follow.

Hugh ... Thanks for those screen shots. This Standard 8mm print has been on my wants list for many years.
You are lucky to have a copy. One of my favourite films.

Hi David, yes I jumped on it as soon as made available, well a month after release, as then I had to save like hell to afford a feature,
which meant no pubs for a week or two, but it was the trailer also sold by DFS that whetted my appetite. Since then I obtained the
French/ European cut on S/8 and the American cut on 16mm, which has a different dubbed track and terrible music score from Les Baxter, replacing Roberto Nicolosi's fine original for some unknown reason. The only time I remember seeing it secondhand, was way
back in the mid '70s on a Lees Cameras list in "Movie Maker", one of my mates bought it after much urging from me, it cost £25.00,
he and his brother were occasional collectors, much like Tom and his Bro, but his brother raved about the film and was pleased with his purchase.
Of course if I see it anywhere, I'll certainly let you know David, indeed Barry might be the man to contact.

Hugh ... I know what you mean as regards making sacrifices to save for a print. I have been there most
of my film collecting life.
Thanks for that information about the various prints and the soundtrack score.
