Downsizing

#1 by Vidar Olavesen , Tue Feb 02, 2016 7:51 pm

I am gonna sell some of my 35mm prints. Does everyone on here also use Facebook? I am torn between listing in on Facebook or the forum. I was hoping both, but the difficulty in updating the prices would mean I'd sit 24/7 updating. If everyone collecting 35mm is also on the facebook page, I can list it only on facebook with a link here. I know some people does not want to use facebook, so I thought I'd ask first. Opinions welcome :-)

Thank you

Vidar, unless you are in a hurry to downsize, why not start with listing on this site and see how you get on with a response.Depending on how you get on here then purhaps go to Facebook as a "second" choice.Only a thought.
Are you getting rid of any 16 mm?

Yes, after I get 35mm down to a meagre 5-6 films, I will gp through 16mm, but mostly the prints that is considered not of the greatest. I will keep those I will see again. Not decided which will be kept yet, but sadly most are subtitled in Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.

Rather you than me to off load 35 mm prints I still think for those I would stay on this site for the time being.

Vidar,
It's kind of sad to hear that you're selling some of your films. I hope it's not out of necessity. But downsizing, I do understand though.

Is anyone still caring about these prints you mean? I see many on eBay compared to when I started collecting film. There was only trailers at that time, but seen plenty of features sold. Hmmm ... On these pages, it's members only who will see 35mm section, so maybe try here.

Thanks

Is it not legal to deal with 35mm prints? Or why would there be a problem?

35mm prints were produced only for screening in cinemas. After use they were supposed to be destructed. They have never been for sale to private collectors, by the film companies.

Vidar! Why don´t you try a couple of auctions on this forum. You can have som ads about it on Facebook. Maybe that would make some people to join our forum.

Yes, I am considering this option. Just to not let it be too much out there. Facebook pages are also closed, so I think it's okay, but these will not be visible for non-members (hidden 35mm sales)

But I do need to get the films out, take photos and check the condition and at the moment I am terribly tired all the time.

Wenn Sie hier auf Links zu eBay klicken und einen Kauf tätigen, kann dies dazu führen, dass diese Website eine Provision erhält.

Vidar, panic ye not, there are scores of 35mm features and trailers being sold on ebay. My advice is to use the well known phrase
"Sold from one collector to another, no rights given or implied". Seems to have worked so far. Best of British my son.

My question is how do you go about getting a projector capable of showing these. Seems like the only thing I ever come across are the big theater projectors that cost thousands of dollars (and are usually listed as "parts only").

I'd love to find a small 35mm projector that could focus onto a wall that is less than 15 ft away for a few hundred dollars.

There is portable 35mm and mine is just about twice the size of a 16mm. Search for portable 35mm projector. Mine is a Philips FP-23 (same as Kinoton)

I believe Classic Home Cinema has some for sale too
