Born: June 16, 1930 in Szeged, Hungary
Died: January 1, 2016 (age 85) in Big Sur, California, USA

Cinematographer of such classics as Close Encounters of the Third Kind (I was at the 70mm showing of this in Oslo and he was having a QA), The Deer Hunter and Blow Out (Director of Photography).

Another great man of the "ancient film process", Cinematographer , a loss, compared to what we have mow is like the loss of
a classical painter, a celluloid picture filler. I wonder where our film culture will end, the greats are dying or gone, the shaky
cam rules, along with quick cutting in editing. Long will the Classic films live. R.I.P. Vilmos, your immortality is guaranteed.
